“It’s Joe Rogan or me” : this is what Neil young wrote to his record company and to Spotify, asking them to immediately remove all his music from the platform. In question, the Joe Rogan podcast, which Spotify bought in December 2020 for 100 million dollars. The comedian, a fan of combat sports, conducts a daily interview of two or three hours there, followed by 11 million people, which makes it by far the most listened to on the site.

He talked about running for president with Kanye West, he made Elon Musk smoke cannabis, always with the same positions hostile to the anti-Covid vaccine. Rogan claims “that a healthy young person does not need it, that someone who plays sports and eats well either, that the vaccine is imposed when it does not prevent having the virus”. So many unacceptable remarks for the author of heart of gold, which joins the nearly 270 doctors and scientists who signed an open letter last month calling on Spotify to stop broadcasting Joe Rogan’s baseless claims.

Artist committed to the left, Neil Young does not hesitate to make his fights public, even to bring them to justice: in August 2020, he had filed a complaint against the team of Donald Trump, who used some of his songs at election rallies during the (lost) campaign for the re-election of the American president.
