Negotiations with the Treasury Board: the FIQ wants to put an end to mandatory overtime (TSO) and private agencies

As part of its negotiations with Quebec, the FIQ is asking to eliminate compulsory overtime and the use of personnel from private placement agencies. She also claims a commitment from the government to adopt a law on nurse-patient ratios.

In terms of salaries, the Interprofessional Health Federation is calling for the Consumer Price Index plus a 4% increase for the year 2023, the CPI plus 4% in 2024 and the CPI plus 4% in 2025. also asks for a catch-up for the current year, because of inflation.

“The expectations of healthcare professionals are very, very, very high…probably even at the same height as all the sacrifices they have been making for far too long”, launched the president of the FIQ, Julie Bouchard, by addressing members gathered in Quebec on the occasion of the official filing of these demands.

The FIQ also claims that a full-time position can be deployed over four days rather than five.

It also calls for improvements to holidays and the display of timetables. She insists that schedules be posted at least two weeks in advance.

The union organization represents 76,000 nurses, nursing assistants and other healthcare professionals, which is the vast majority of them. The FIQ is not part of the common front and will therefore conduct its own negotiations with the Quebec government.

Public sector collective agreements will expire on March 31. Quebec must submit its offers in the coming weeks. Negotiations are expected to begin after the holidays.
