Ukrainian fighters are under no illusions about the negotiations between Moscow and Washington, which are taking place at the start of the week.
In Piski (Ukraine), Commander Santa has been at war for seven years. This house, its improvised headquarters, is three kilometers from the Russian border and the front line. Monday January 10, Moscow and Washington began negotiations. But Commander Santa and his men, all volunteers, are under no illusions.
“I don’t expect much from the talks, we are the wall between Russia and old civilized Europe. Expecting something from Moscow is like playing chess with cheaters “, says Commander Santa. Russia has deployed 100,000 troops at the border and raised fears among residents of a potential invasion. In Geneva, Moscow assured that it did not intend to invade Ukraine, without convincing Washington. Negotiations will continue this week.
