You have surely seen them through your windows: hailstones sometimes larger than the palm of your hand. This Friday, June 3, violent storms hit the Landes. Several damages have been identified in the department placed in orange vigilance to thunderstorms, like 59 other departments in France. The firefighters carried out 68 interventions this Friday evening in the Landes.
Floods and torn roofs
Friday, following the storms, customers of the Grand Moun shopping center in Saint-Pierre-du-Mont had to be evacuated rushed around 7 p.m. Hailstones caused water infiltration. The management preferred to evacuate the stores. According to the owner of the establishment, the Grand Moun will reopen normally this Saturday.
According to the firefighters, the Pomarez sector is particularly affected: flooding and soaring roofs. According to the mayor of the town of Labastide-d’Armagnac, almost all the vineyard is destroyed.
Storms that could come back strong this Saturday evening in the Landes, placed again in orange vigilance, like 59 other departments in France.
