nearly 6,000 classes closed in France, a figure still falling

5,907 classes and 16 schools are closed due to Covid-19, the Ministry of National Education said in a statement on Friday. The figures were stopped this Thursday at 1 p.m. This represents 2% of classes in the country and 0.05% of schools.

146,347 students on the other hand, 12,323 teaching staff have tested positive in the past seven days.

Falling numbers

Last week, 16,836 classes and 48 schools were closed due to Covid-19, so the trend is clearly downward.

This “the prospect of a fall leads us to think of a reduction” explained last Friday the Minister of Education Jean-Michel Blanquer who already mentioned an improvement in the situation on the front of Covid-19 in schools.

The health protocol soon to be lightened

School health protocol announcements will be made “by the weekend”, had specified the spokesman of the government, Gabriel Attal, in his press briefing at the end of the Council of Ministers, this Wednesday. The government, which is also awaiting the opinion of the High Authority for Health (HAS), could therefore speak this Friday. Jean Castex is also the guest of the 1 p.m. newspaper of France 2.

The avenues envisaged would be a reduction in the number of self-tests, the end of wearing a mask outdoors or even a possible reduction in the level of protocol in primary school, which could be reduced from level 3 to level 2, again authorizing a greater mixing of students, unions said on Tuesday.
