The unions hope to do better, Tuesday, March 7, than the previous mobilizations against the pension reform. The historic record was reached on January 31, with 1.2 million demonstrators according to the Ministry of the Interior. This time, nearly 300 gatherings are planned, unheard of.

Nearly 300 demonstrations against the pension reform are planned in France on Tuesday March 7. Some processions left in the morning, as in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône). The demonstrators want to harden the movement. “We are putting France on hold. We say that now we really have to listen to this anger and this desire to put an end to this project”, explains a woman. During the last day of mobilization, nearly 90,000 people gathered in Marseille.

“Mr. Macron should not count on anyone along the way despairing and giving up the fight. That will not happen”, said Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the leader of La France Insoumise. In Boulogne-sur-Mer (Pas-de-Calais), 9,000 people were expected according to the CGT. In Paris, the procession should start in the early afternoon. The last mobilization of February 16 had brought together 1.3 million people in France according to the CGT, 440,000 according to the government.
