“Nearly 2,803 jobs lost in three years”denounced Sophie Vénétitay, invited Tuesday July 2 on franceinfo. The general secretary of Snes-FSU, the main union of middle and high schools, was reacting to the publication of the final results of the competitive examinations to become a teacher. She criticized the lack of investment of the last ministers of National Education.
Among the half of the positions lost, “nearly a thousand concern mathematics”specified Sophie Vénétitay “because the job is not attractive enough”. “When you have a degree in mathematics, and you have the choice between the private and the public sector, the salary conditions in the private sector mean that you choose the private sector instead.”she added.
Faced with this difficulty in recruiting teachers, the training reform proposed by the government “is being set up in a very chaotic manner”said Sophie Vénétitay, a teacher in Essonne. “This reform is supposed to be implemented at the start of the next school year, that is to say in two months. The texts have still not been published.”she regrets.
“In two months, universities are supposed to prepare modules so that students, third-year undergraduates, can prepare for the competitive exam.”stressed Sophie Vénétitay.
In total, 635 middle and high school teachers are missing from the external CAPES. This is one in eight positions that is currently vacant.
