A lake effect storm caused by cold, moisture-laden air from warmer lakes hit areas east of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario for a third straight day.

In some places, snowfall was among the heaviest on record for the region. Up to two feet of snow was dumped on some Michigan communities south of Lake Superior and east of Lake Michigan.

Sunday’s game between the Buffalo Bills and the Cleveland Browns had to be relocated to Detroit because Highmark Stadium was buried in snow.
