The bombardments continue towards the nuclear power plant of Zaporizhia, in Ukraine. Iodine pills are distributed to residents, given the risk of an incident and radioactive leak.

In Zaporizhia (Ukraine), residents come to collect iodine tablets on Monday, August 29. The nurses explain that the pills should only be taken in the event of a radioactive leak and an alert. “We are in a very dangerous situation, I pray that nothing happens”, says a woman. In the event of radioactive emissions, the tablet partially protects, but serves to reassure the population. Some pharmacies sell the drug, which is available to people living within a 50 km radius of the nuclear power plant.

Indeed, after a bombing that occurred on the night of Sunday August 28 to Monday August 29, fires broke out in Enerhodar. It is in this city under Russian control that the nuclear power plant, the largest in Europe, is located. The inhabitants of Zaporizhia (Ukraine), which is about fifty kilometers away, are worried. In Nikopol (Ukraine), 13 km from the plant, 20% of the inhabitants remained.
