Since October 7, 2023, the town of Kiryat Schmona (Israel), located a few kilometers from Lebanon, has suffered aerial assaults from the Islamist movement. While the majority of the population left, others decided to stay.
A daily life peppered with sirens, followed by rockets. In Kiryat Schmona, in northern Israel, residents are affected by war. Just three kilometers from the Lebanese border, the town has been one of the targets of Hezbollah, a Lebanese Islamist movement allied with Hamas, since October 7. In the streets, signs of life are rare. Only a few cafes-restaurants remain open.
At the table, conflict is on everyone’s lips. Some consider it essential. “There must be a war to restore order in the world”, insists a man at the table. Hezbollah intends to continue its attacks. In a message, the head of the Shiite organization threatened Israel with escalating the conflict if the Jewish state attacked Lebanon. On the front, IDF soldiers are preparing for a possible ground offensive.
