How to avoid overcrowding in hospitals during the summer? Near Saint-Tropez, in the Var, a care center has joined the hospital to avoid going to the emergency room.

In Gassin (Var), a man suffering from the shoulder undergoes a first consultation. If he is in the emergency room, he is nevertheless examined by a general practitioner. This unscheduled care center opened a few days ago. To make it work, doctors and liberal nurses will take turns throughout the summer. Dr. Frédéric Garcia came from the department of Ain. “Hospital centres, as you know, are having difficulty finding doctors, even replacement doctors. (…) The idea was to make ourselves a little useful, to avoid this difficulty here”he confides.

Marine Thore, liberal nurse, comes on her days off. The operation should last until mid-September. Its objective is to unclog the emergency room, by relieving the hospital of the least serious cases. Mickaël Joud, CTPS coordinator for the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, recalls that “practically half of the people who come to the emergency room could be treated by city medicine”.
