The municipality of Darnétal (Seine-Maritime) announces on Sunday July 2 that it will introduce a curfew for minors under the age of 16 until July 31 due to urban violence for several nights in response to the death of Nahel, reports France Bleu Normandy.

Minors under the age of 16 will not be able to travel alone in the city between 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. if they are not accompanied by a parent or a legal representative, in part of the city.

In a press release, the town hall justifies this decision by “attacks on agents who are agents of public authority, damage to public and private buildings, damage and looting of shops”. She also points to “fires of property and garbage cans”, indicating that “minors under the age of 16 are associated with these events”.
