Briton Ncuti Gatwa, noted for his role in the series Sex Educationwill be the first black actor to interpret the main character of Doctor Whothe hero of the cult BBC science fiction series, the British television channel announced on Sunday.
The 29-year-old Scottish actor, born in Rwanda, will become the 14th Time Lord from 2023, when the series celebrates its 60th anniversary, succeeding British actress Jodie Whittaker, who was the first woman to play the character.
