Yannick Bestaven set sail this Friday morning on France Bleu La Rochelle. The winner of the last Vendée Globe was our witness guest on the eve of the baptism of his new monohull “Maitre CoQ V” moored in the Bassin des Tralutiers in the port of La Rochelle. 1,300 employees of the LDC Group (Maitre CoQ is the group’s poultry brand) were invited for the occasion. They will leave by bus from the Vendée on Saturday morning.
After validating his qualification last week aboard his new Imoca, Yannick Bestaven will start the Route du Rhum on November 6th from Saint-Malo towards Guadeloupe. A transatlantic race that will serve as a test and calibration before its ultimate challenge: the next Vendée Globe in November 2024. The confidences of the adopted Rochelais on video.
Yannick Bestaven also had “carte blanche” for a mood post on France Bleu La Rochelle. He chose the theme “Go to the end of his dreams”. This echoes the film directed by Sébastien Blemon “dreams never die“. This documentary film tells the extraordinary story of Yannick Bestaven. It is also enriched with portraits of personalities who have realized their dreams: Daniel Auteuil, Isabelle Autissier, Philippe Croizon, Bixente Lizarazu, Thomas Pesquet, Charline Picon, Erik Orsenna.. .
“Whatever it takes, if you believe in your passion, go for it, get up in the morning for it, and if they tell you you won’t make it, it’s not made for you, as I I could hear it, you have to believe in your convictions, have a lot of resilience and then go for it.” – Yannick Bestaven
