(Montreal) Several Quebec police services will hold a concerted national operation this weekend that will focus on the safety of citizens engaged in nautical activities.

To justify this operation, which will take place from Friday to Sunday, the police report that at the dock and on the bodies of water, the traffic continues to increase.
Police have observed that in a majority of collisions, capsizes and drownings, human behavior is a significant factor.
The police will therefore carry out various interventions with nautical customers both at the dock and on the bodies of water, or on the nearby road when returning home, in order to apply the laws and regulations.
They will also issue several safety tips, particularly about the mandatory equipment, but also the one that is not, such as the personal flotation device, even if it is strongly recommended.
The police also intend to provide advice on immersion in cold water, forecasts and weather conditions, the responsibilities of boaters, cohabitation on the water and certain dangers such as shoals and submerged objects.
