(OTTAWA) NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will visit Canada August 24-26, the Prime Minister’s Office announced Friday.

Posted at 2:46 p.m.

Mr. Stoltenberg will meet with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Both will address various issues such as the current Russian invasion of Ukraine, climate change and defense in the Arctic.

The Prime Minister’s Office said the two men will visit one of the North Warning System facilities and the Canadian High Arctic Research Station.

The next day they will travel to one of Canada’s fighter bases in Cold Lake, Alberta. The bilateral meeting will take place at the conclusion of the trip.

Mr. Stoltenberg’s last visit to Canada dates back to July 2019. He also met Mr. Trudeau at the last NATO summit in Spain last June.

Trudeau and National Defense Minister Anita Anand used the summit to announce commitments to increase the size of NATO’s Enhanced Forward Presence Multinational Battlegroup in Latvia, which Canada has led since 2017.
