Turner broke the deadlock in the fifth for the Western champions (111-51), winning the most since the Chicago Cubs of 1906 (116-36), in the National.

Clayton Kershaw had nine batters at bat, bringing his career total to 2,807 strikeouts.

He gave up a run and a hit in five innings, helping the Dodgers snap a three-game losing streak.

Los Angeles has a bye to the second round, where the club will face either the New York Mets or the San Diego Padres.

This series will begin on October 11, at Dodger Stadium.

The Dodgers’ Freddie Freeman came close to pipping the Mets’ Jeff McNeil for the league batting title.

Freeman needed a 4-for-4 game; instead it moved to a triple of a carousel.

After a double and a home run, he was called out on a long fly ball to center field, before getting a single.

Freeman finished at .325, McNeil at .326.

Freeman and Turner have each produced 100 runs in 2022.

Among the Dodgers, it was the first double of its kind since 2009 (Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp, with 106 and 101).

The Dodgers’ total attendance was 3,861,092 fans, the second-highest total in their history.

The brand was established in 2019, with 3,974,309 supporters.
