National Council for Refoundation: on the eve of its launch, the meeting is not unanimous

The National Council for Refoundation, wanted by Emmanuel Macron to debate important issues and “revitalize politics”, will be launched on Thursday, September 8. However, it is not unanimous: the opposition and some unions have already indicated that they will not participate.

It hasn’t started yet, but seems already compromised. The National Refoundation Council (CNR)wanted by Emmanuel Macron, will be launched Thursday, September 8, but it does not attract crowds. No opposition party agreed to participate. On the union side, the CFDT, the CFTC and theUnsa will be around the table, but not FO and CGT. On the other hand, the associations of local elected officials agreed to go there.

What will be the topics on the menu of this council? The Elysée wants to put on the table the three caps of the quinquennium: the climate, equal opportunities and the sovereignty of the country. But the CNR has no legal value. “You can decide what you want within the CNR, it absolutely does not presume what Parliament will decide”explains Benjamin Morel, political scientist. The CNR must open on the morning of Thursday, in Marcoussis (Essone).
