The accident took place early Monday morning. A 43-year-old man from La Malbaie, a municipality located about fifty kilometers east of Baie-Saint-Paul, in the MRC of Charlevoix, was driving a Hyundai Elantra on Route 138.
He lost control of his vehicle in a curve and rolled over, according to information from Stéphane Tremblay, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec. “We do not rule out the hypothesis that the man could have been a victim of fatigue at the wheel,” he adds.
The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition where he died of his injuries.
A collision investigation has been launched to understand the circumstances of the accident, specifies the Sûreté du Québec.
