The remains of the storm Debby are giving the organizers of the National Bank Open a headache. The second round was supposed to start at noon, but will have to wait until at least 1:30 p.m.
Three matches have already been postponed on Thursday evening due to rain. Thanasi Kokkinakis and Hubert Hurkacz were due to play on centre court, followed by Sebastian Korda and Taylor Fritz. Flavio Cobolli and Arthur Rinderknech were due to do the same on Rogers Court.
The tournament schedule has been changed so that the winners of these games must play two matches by the end of the day.
If Mother Nature is kind, the top two seeds are set to play on Wednesday. Initially, top seed Jannik Sinner is set to face Alejandro Tabilo in the early afternoon. Second seed Alexander Zverev is set to take on Holger Dune at 7 p.m.
Fans will be refunded if no match is completed during the day, or if less than 90 minutes of play are played.
