The Montrealer triumphed at the National Bank Tennis Championships in Granby against a 17-year-old Chinese, Juncheng Shang, 7-5, 7-6 (5).

Thanks to this triumph, Diallo will improve his ranking by 183 places to occupy the 335e rung of the ATP Tour.

The 20-year-old Canadian had never qualified for the quarter-finals of an ATP Challenger Tour tournament before this week.

Diallo, a six-foot-seven tennis player, needed two hours and five minutes to triumph against the sixth seed.

The Quebecer scored 10 aces at the expense of his rival.

Before crossing swords with Diallo, Shang had not lost a round in Granby.
