Nathalie Baye still “very affected” and unable to mourn

It was last January that the world of cinema, friends, fans, and a family lost a leader… Indeed, on January 19, Gaspard Ulliel lost his life as a result of injuries after a serious skiing accident. A loss from which many people, including Nathalie Baye, are struggling to recover. Laura Smet’s mother dated the actor and even starred alongside him under the direction of Xavier Dolan in Just the end of the world in 2016.

It is therefore no surprise that she paid tribute to him on social networks, a few hours after the announcement of his death. “He was handsome, he was gifted, he was tender, elegant, benevolent, he was a father…”, she wrote on Instagram, very affected by what she had just learned. But several months after this tragedy, Nathalie Baye, like many friends and family members of Gaspard Ulliel, cannot forget it. She recently gave an interview, to be published next May, to our colleagues from Vanity Fair.

Memories filled with emotion

An interview in which she evokes the loss of her friend with great emotion. “I was very affected. He was great and so humble”she explains with “the blank stare, still foggy”, as noted by our colleagues. Nathalie Baye also returns to the tribute paid by Xavier Dolan during the last Cesar ceremony. A tribute during which the Quebec director cracked in front of the public and for which he had to apologize to the mother of Laura Smet. “I reassured him: it’s normal to cry, all this is still too fresh”she would have reassured him.

Despite his disappearance, fans of Gaspard Ulliel were able to catch a glimpse of the actor for one of his last contributions of his life. Indeed, the one who lost his life on January 19, appears in the third episode of the Marvel series on Disney +, Moon Knightin which he plays Midnight Man, an experienced, costumed thief.
