A heat dome causes temperatures to rise in France on Saturday. If a heat peak is expected on Tuesday in France, elsewhere in Europe, such as in Naples, Athens or even Madrid, the thermostat is already panicking.
Spain is used to the heat but this time it is even more intense. “It’s extremely intense, but above all these are heat waves which are repeated more and more here, and give the Spaniards no respite this summer”reports journalist Elise Gazengel, in duplex from Barcelona (Spain), Saturday July 15. Temperature records were broken all over the country. The heat dome also affects other southern European countries.

In Rome, the Italian capital, the postcard decor makes tourists dream a little less. It is currently 37°C, with an expected peak of 43°C early next week. What discourage visitors. “There is very little shade, it is very hot and you feel it very quickly”comments a tourist. Sixteen cities in Italy are on red alert.
In Cyprus, it is 35°C on the coasts and 44°C inland. The streets of the capital are almost deserted. In Greece, it is 41°C. This is the third day that the Acropolis has had to remain closed during the hottest hours of the day.
