Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin announced on Tuesday the start of the official procedure for the dissolution of this “far-left small group” active on social networks since 2012. The members of this collective present it as an autonomous media and engaged. Meeting in Nantes with two of its members, who wished to remain anonymous.
“Nantes Révoltée” is first a Facebook page that appeared in 2012.
It relays information on social movements and environmental struggles.
A page that has 215,000 subscribers to date.
The medium also exists in the form of a Twitter account and a paper magazine.
For its members the request for dissolution is “incomprehensible and unjustified“.

“We find it quite distressing and laughable.“Details the young activist that our team met on condition of anonymity.
“We don’t even understand why Gérald Darmanin attacks us“
“I think he must not know very well what we do or who we are, it was seen in the Assembly” she adds.
“It is important to remember that Nantes Révoltée is a media. It’s not a small group, a group of black blocks, thugs”
“We’ve been around for 10 years, done thousands of articles, interviews, covered local struggles. So necessarily we relay the demonstrations” she concludes.
His comrade from Nantes Révoltée takes the floor in turn.
“Mr. Darmanin does not seem to know what he blames Nantes Révoltée for either” he explains.
“Would it be to call for demonstrations? So Mr. Darmanin will have to dissolve all the unions in France, most of the media and all those who echo the demonstrations“;
“Does he blame us for denouncing police violence? Surely. In this case, we will also have to dissolve a large number of associations, Facebook pages and independent journalists who talk about these subjects.“.
We have understood that Gérald Darmanin’s problem is freedom of expression, but we will have to show us how he intends to dissolve us.

Faced with the accusation of fueling the violence in the demonstrations, the two activists of Nantes Révoltée put forward their arguments.
“It is really underestimating us to think that we are responsible for the breakage and the thousands of people who parade in the streets every week“adds the activist from Nantes revolted.
“And again it’s not understanding that we are a media, so we necessarily relay the demonstrations” she adds.
As for knowing what their reaction will be in the coming days to this possible dissolution, they seem to have adopted the adage that the best defense is attack.
“For now, we thank the government for this unexpected publicity stunt.“explains the activist of Nantes Révoltée.
“We have never received so much support, so thank you Gérald Darmanin and thank you Valérie Oppelt“(Editor’s note: LREM deputy for Loire-Atlantique who asked for the dissolution of Nantes Révoltée on January 25 during questions to the government in the National Assembly).
“We are in contact with lawyers and we are waiting for the dissolution procedure” he explains.
“Mr. Darmanin told the National Assembly that he was working on the file to make himself unassailable. He doesn’t seem very sure of himself.“
And call “all independent media and all those who are not totally submitted to this illegitimate government to support us“
If we manage to prevent this dissolution behind it is a winner for all the freedom of the press and for many people

Respect for freedom of the press could represent the main obstacle to a future dissolution.
Nantes Révoltée has two weeks to present its arguments to the Ministry of the Interior.
