Nancy Pelosi has landed in Japan, the final leg of her Asian tour

(Tokyo) Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi arrived in Japan on Thursday, the final leg of her Asian tour that included a rare visit to Taiwan that drew the ire of China.

Chinese ballistic missiles have thus fallen into Japan’s exclusive economic zone (EEZ) for the first time, Japanese Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi said on Thursday.

As soon as the Chinese maneuvers were announced, Tokyo, a close ally of Washington, had expressed its “concern”.

Mme Pelosi, 82, who is visiting Japan for the first time since 2015, is scheduled to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Friday morning, according to public broadcaster NHK.
