Nana Mouskouri evokes for the very first time her pancreatic cancer!

If more and more personalities decide to make their cancer public, like Florent Pagny, others prefer to remain very discreet about it. This is particularly the case of Nana Mouskouri. Indeed, the singer spoke in the columns of the last issue of Gala to talk about an illness that she had to face. “I never wanted to talk about it. It was in 2015, I was coming back from Australia, I had chemotherapy which lasted eight months”, said the 88-year-old star. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. “I’m optimistic, I know you should never give up when you’re sick. You really have to fight”she continued.

In this interview, it was a question of the couple that she forms with André Chapelle. The producer shares his life since the 70s. “We got married in 2003, at the insistence of Jean-Claude Brialy, my great friend and witness. With André, we’ve known each other since 1964, he became my producer […] We are still in love. When he’s there, I’m fine. I’m afraid of losing him. And it’s the same for him […] I am very happy to have found it. Or did he find me, I don’t know…” It was thanks to the support of her husband that she found the resources necessary to fight. “If I hadn’t had it, I wouldn’t have done everything I did”she let go.

Note that Nana Mouskouri had married before him the musician and producer Geórgios Petsilás in 1961. A marriage which allowed him to give birth to two children, Nicolas and Hélène Petsilas, nicknamed Lénou. The couple will eventually divorce. “I regret having put my two children through a divorce. But without it, I would not have had a career. My ex-husband wanted to return to Greece, but I was not ready to give up music”, had – she told Time.
