“Naked dress”, vintage dresses, mustache, the trends that have enamelled the Croisette

If at the Cannes Film Festival the stars climb the steps, it is always in particularly neat outfits. From clothes to hair, an overview of this year’s trends.

The Cannes Film Festival is cinema, a lot of cinema, but not only. There are also the famous climbs of the steps which are an opportunity for actors, models and influencers from all over the world to show class and originality in their outfits. Here is an overview of the trends that marked the 76th edition.

A few weeks after the Met gala, the unmissable annual meeting of the world of showbiz and fashion in New York which honored the deceased couturier Karl Lagarfeld as well as emblematic outfits from the catwalks of the 1990s, the Croisette also took on a slight “vintage” hue. Lily-Rose Depp flaunted a strapless Chanel sequin mini dress from the fashion house’s archives.

The French influencer Léna Mahfouf (better known as Léna Situations), chose to wear a bodysuit with a long train inspired by an old dress from the British brand Vivienne Westwood worn by Naomi Campbell in 1994. , the young woman was the victim of grossophobic comments to which she replied on her Instagram account: “I hope that the future and the hindsight will bring us only love”.

Actress Natalie Portman, who presented May-December alongside Julianne Moore, went back even further in time with a strapless dress inspired by Christian Dior’s legendary Junon dress created in 1949.

It was also without counting on the black dress, eternal symbol of elegance and chic. Among the outfits that marked the red carpet: the English actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge, on the poster of the last IndianaJones (presented out of competition), opted for an impressive black ruffled dress by Schiaparelli. with her black ruffled dress by Schiaparelli. On the men’s side, the director and his actors were in total black for the presentation of the Spaniard’s short film Strange Way of Lifepresented out of competition.

Without forgetting the “naked dress”, or transparent dress, which the British model Kate Moss was undoubtedly the first to wear in 1993, in London. Then aged 19, she appeared without makeup with a long backless, strappy, silver-colored and completely transparent dress. Since then, the outfit has made adaptations, like this year Julia Fox.

On the hair side, we could see blonde or blue coloring, with Gigi Hadid and Helen Mirren.

77-year-old British actress Helen Mirren struck a chord at the opening of the 76th edition on May 16: she matched her outfit down to her blue-dyed hair at the screening of "Madame du Barry".  (CHRISTOPHE SIMON / AFP)

Another hair trend noticed on the red carpet was that of “wet hair”, literally hairstyle wet effect, as used by the Russian model Irina Shayk.

For men, the mustache has made a timid comeback. This is the case of British actor Jude Law.
