The ecological and democratic socialist group (SED) of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region “will demand accountability” to the president of the regional council, Laurent Wauquiez, assures Thursday October 19 Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, regional councilor and president of the SED group.

According to an investigation by the Radio France investigation unit published Thursday October 19, four jobs within the team close to Laurent Wauquiez are suspected of being ghost jobs on a local scale and essentially focused on the presidential election of 2027.
“In the absence of elements likely to reassure us about the existence of these jobs and what they were intended for, we will take legal action”, warns Najat Vallaud-Belkacem. Because she assures that she has “never heard of it“of these four employees.”Never !“insists the chosen one.”All this raises questions on a legal level“, she says.

Transparency already called into question in February

Najat Vallaud-Belkacem recalls that Laurent Wauquiez has already been implicated in the so-called “of the summit dinner”. In February 2023, searches were carried out in the premises of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region as part of an investigation opened concerning a sumptuous dinner given by Laurent Wauquiez at the Château de La Chaize (Rhône), financed with taxpayer’s money.
The cost of the dinner was estimated by Mediapart at “a little over 100,000 euros“, a final addition of more than 1,100 euros per guest.

“After the affair of the summit dinners, after the completely exorbitant communication costs of this region, this is an illustration of more than one use of the region’s resources by Mr. Wauquiez which at the very least is not transparent“, deplores Najat Vallaud-Belkacem.

According to her, “obviously“, the LR president of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region”is not turned towards the general interest of this community but towards its personal interest, towards its preparation for its political future on a national and not regional level“.
