Thousands of residents of Nagorno-Karabakh are being forced to flee their homes in a hurry, as Azerbaijani forces strengthen their grip. Nearly 7,000 people have already reached Armenia.
These are the first refugees of Nagorno-Karabakh to enter Armenia. Sunday, September 24, several hundred women, children and elderly people arrived at the reception center in Kornidzor (Armenia). They are still in shock, after the blitzkrieg waged last week by Azerbaijan against the enclave populated mainly by Armenians. “They told us: either you leave or you take an Azerbaijan passport“, confides a displaced Armenian.
A mass exodus
HAS Stepanakertthe capital of Nagorno-Karabakhresidents are preparing to leave on their own.
