Myriam Abel clashes André Manoukian, her former mentor

She insisted on talking about everything… without filter! At the microphone of Jordan De Luxe, in his show “Chez Jordan”, the former winner of the show “Nouvelle Star” in 2005 returned to her incredible weight loss which caused so much ink to flow as well as discuss the subject of cosmetic surgery. But what we especially remember from this aside is the young woman’s desire to talk about an old interview that André Manoukian gave to the magazine “Closer” in 2013. And his words make it today still filled with disappointment and bitterness. Because, invited to return at the time to the victory of the former candidates of the M6 tele-hook show, the musician then said: “I was disappointed with what she did afterwards with the voice she had. Myriam Abel did not deserve her victory in Nouvelle Star.”

“In France, you always have to stay in the boxes”

The winner is all returned again today: “He said that, bluntly!? While I worked with him on my first album” And to continue: “He nevertheless signed two songs on my first album which was gold record. When we do not validate the victory of an artist, we do not work with her on her first album”. Pushing the analysis, Myriam Abel thinks that André Manoukian reacted thus in relation to the participation of his protégé in the reality TV show “Les Anges” in 2011: “I think it’s just the image of reality TV. In France, we know very well, you always have to stay in the boxes. If you’re a singer and you’ve won Nouvelle Star, you can’t do anything else, otherwise it’ll damage your image, it’s not good for your image. Me, I broke the codes a bit”, she explains. And the artist pointed out to Jordan De Luxe that she had hardly any other proposals at the time: “When I was asked to do Les Anges, I did it with pleasure because, without being language of wood, nothing was happening. My record company didn’t take care of me anymore, my second album didn’t work. Then it pays well […] It was an experience that I agreed to do because there was my friend Sofiane who had done season 2 of Star Academy and suddenly, I immediately accepted”, she specifies. Because in the end, she would never have turned to reality TV if her musical career had been better managed: “If I was in a period when my record company was working on my young career as an artist, putting money and pushed me, I wouldn’t have done it” she concluded, insinuating in passing that the detractors are not the payers… no offense to André Manoukian.
