“Le Consentement” by Vanessa Springora, published in 2020, recounts her years under the influence of author Gabriel Matzneff. The story, staged at the Théâtre du Rond-Point in Paris, is carried by Ludivine Sagnier.

The tray is minimalist, “there is a bed, black satin sheets”, shows Ludivine Sagnier. For the actress it’s only one on stage, or almost. A drummer accompanies him, giving rhythm to his emotions. “It keeps the viewer on alert, he is not calm”explains the actress. The consentit is first of all the autobiographical story of Vanessa Springora, under the influence of Gabriel Matzneff at the age of fourteen.

Who consents?

For Ludivine Sagnier, “what is interesting is that she does not refer to her only consent, which she gave and which did not prevent her from living this traumatic story. She refers to other consents: that of her mother, those around her and all the adults who were supposed to protect her and who did not”explains the actress. “Even if I am not a victim strictly speaking, my role as an artist, as an actress, is to allow this word to be spread and to reach as many people as possible”she explains.
