“My dog and me”, Luca Tortolini and Felicita Sala

Who has never dreamed of having a pet bear, who knows how to behave well and who is ready to follow his human without complaint? This is what the little heroine of this story imagined by the Italian Luca Tortolini (The True Story of King Kong), who has always wanted to have a dog and finds one in the friendly lost ursid she meets in a park. The play of contrast between the little girl’s conviction of having adopted a canine companion, while everyone around her seems terrified by the beast, constitutes the comic spring which makes this adventure entirely charming and particularly funny for the target audience, preschool children and learner readers. Felicita Sala’s very beautiful illustrations exploit this contrast wonderfully, through the multitude of small details in each of the paintings, and thus allow numerous readings and re-readings as a family.
