We didn’t think that such an innocuous photo could cause so much ink to flow. And yet. On the occasion of Mother’s Day, in the United Kingdom, this March 10, 2024, Kate Middleton shared a photo of herself with her 3 children, smiling, sitting on a rattan chair on a terrace, taken by the prince William and dated 2024. It would have been taken “in Windsor earlier this week”specifies Kensington Palace.
“I wanted to express my apologies”
And unfortunately, the alterations made to the image (and the absence of a wedding ring on Kate’s finger) were noted by the press agencies (Associated Press, Reuters and AFP) who decided to remove the photo from their bases. Enough to panic observers who know that the Princess of Wales has been resting since January, after an operation of which she did not want to give great details… But what are these alterations hiding?
The day after the controversy surrounding this retouched photo, Kate Middleton finally broke the silence and apologized on her X account. She wrote: “Like many amateur photographers, I occasionally experiment with retouching. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion caused by the family photo we shared yesterday. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C”
Mystery surrounding Kate’s health…
In mid-January 2024, Kensington Palace announced that the Princess of Wales had undergone a planned abdominal operation which had gone well. She then spent ten days at the London Clinic, before returning to Adelaide Cottage, her home, to rest there until Easter. A few days later, after King Charles’ prostate operation, we also learned that the sovereign was now undergoing treatment for cancer. Health announcements that continue to concern the general public.
Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. VS
