Mutual insurance prices could soar by 8 to 12.5% in 2024. The Minister of Health is asking mutual insurance companies to contain this increase.
The standoff between the government and complementary health insurance is well underway. The latter set the tone for 2024 with increases of 8 to 12.5%. This increase is colossal, according to the Minister of Health. “An increase of 4 to 5% would be logical. An increase of 8% makes no sense and 10, even more so”criticized Aurélien Rousseau.
An aging population highlighted by mutual insurance companies
To justify this increase, mutual insurance companies highlight the aging of the population. “Contributions will increase significantly in 2024”, said Éric Chenut, president of Mutualité Française. The regular withdrawal of health insurance is also one of the causes of this increase in mutual insurance prices. A dialogue committee between the State and insurers was set up a year ago to negotiate, but it never met.
