A new album to rediscover Alain Bashung. The very beginning of his career in the 80s thanks to an unexpectedly found concert.
In the L’Escale concert hall, located in Melun (Seine et Marne), was recorded, 40 years ago, an unpublished concert by Alain Bashung. The year 1981 marks the exit of the tunnel Bashung after several failures. Journalist Philippe Barbot attended the performance. “He was quite charismatic despite his “destroy” side, he was able to roll on the stage”he recalls.
At the time, the artist was still hesitating about his style. In 1981, Bashung begins to become famous thanks to the success of “Gaby”, a text recovered from an old project. “Gaby” cis also a saxophone introduction borrowed from a song by Buddy Holly. VSThis music will become the beginning of the whole career of Bashung. “He sings his first songs and people chant ‘Gaby! Gabby!’ What is very curious at the time is that the title is better known than the artist. That, Alain suffers from it”details Boris Bergman, lyricist of Alain Bashung. The public was varied in front of an artist difficult to tame.
