The shock of the day will not take place. For this second day of the quarterfinals, Wednesday July 10, there will be only one men’s match. Alex De Minaur (9th in the world), who was to face Novak Djokovic (n°2), has withdrawn, due to a “hip injury“. After his show of strength against Holger Rune, the Serb seems to have returned to great form and is therefore heading straight to the semi-finals. In the only men’s match, the Italian Lorenzo Musetti (25th) faces Taylor Fritz (12th), who eliminated Alexander Zverev in the round of 16. The 26-year-old American will be playing his third quarter-final in the last four Grand Slam tournaments. His goal: to reach the last four for the first time.
The women’s draw, decimated of its headliners after Coco Gauff’s elimination in the previous round, now only has Elena Rybakina as a representative of the top 5. World number 4 and winner of the British Grand Slam in 2022, she faces the experienced Elina Svitolina (21st). The Ukrainian appreciates the London grass, where she has reached the semi-finals twice (2019 and 2023). The second quarter-final of the day also pits two former Grand Slam winners against each other, Jelena Ostapenko (14th) and Barbora Krejcikova (32nd). The Latvian had already reached the quarter-finals in London, unlike her Czech opponent.
