In 2018, the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court ruled that Morne Rouge Road was indeed a public road paid for by taxpayers after Jonathan Lehrer, one of the double murder suspects, blocked it. This street, which crosses the suspect couple’s tourist plantation, is in fact the only path that leads to the victims’ eco-responsible hotel complex.

The arrested American had already tried to prevent passage by placing rocks, digging a trench, and planting metal pipes, we can read in a judgment consulted by Le Journal.

According to local media, they had also held a demonstration near the Coulibri Ridge Resort, the eco-responsible hotel operated by the victims, in order to denounce the attitude of Jonathan and Victoria Lehrer. Second road
Before the Court, Daniel Langlois had raised as a possible solution the construction of a second public road in order to put an end to this disagreement. But the Court opted instead for mediation sessions so that the owners could find a resolution together.
In addition to his dispute with his neighbors, Jonathan Lehrer seemed to adopt hostile and sometimes even aggressive behavior towards anyone traveling on the Morne Rouge road.
On various sites, such as Google, Trip Advisor and Facebook, negative testimonials from unhappy customers are pouring in. Some say they were followed by the owner in his SUV until they left the road, others say they were yelled at by his wife because they showed up without an appointment.
