A few dozen relatives paid tribute to him in the morning, in order to give courage to the family. Before the Assize Court, she faced the accused for the first time. “He’s a cold person, who shows no feelings“, comments Parveen Hanse, Shaina’s mother.
The ordeal of a teenager
The man, a minor at the time of the events, is accused of having trapped Shaïna in a garden shed, to murder her with a knife, before burning her alive. The young woman was pregnant with him, and refused to have an abortion. He would then boast about the murder to his acquaintances. The murder is the last act of Shaïna’s ordeal. At 13, she had suffered a sexual assault in a meeting, then suffered harassment and violence in her neighborhood. She had lodged a complaint at the police station, without success. The trial is due to last until Friday.
