The mystery remains for the moment whole on what happened to the deceased. On January 5, the 50-year-old – who allegedly had her throat cut – was found dead in her vehicle, a blue 2003 Toyota Echo. It was a passerby who made this macabre discovery, in the parking lot of a shopping center, just in front of a Desjardins caisse.

A week later, the Longueuil agglomeration police department (SPAL) indicated that its analyzes of the surveillance cameras demonstrate beyond any doubt “that the murder of the victim was not committed at random”. The authorities then also confirmed that the murder would have been committed on January 2. The body would therefore have remained three days in the vehicle before being found.

Four months have passed since. On Thursday, police spokesman François Boucher said that “new information obtained during the investigation” is leading investigators to “carry out more targeted checks”.

From the start of the day, patrol officers were busy combing through the parking lot of a grocery store, at the corner of King-George Street and Roland-Therrien Boulevard, very close to where the Manon Boisvert. “Our raking is done really close [du lieu de la découverte du corps]but it’s not directly in the same parking lot, ”illustrated Officer Boucher, adding that the police are notably equipped with metal detectors.

No suspects arrested yet

A command post has been deployed to the scene, and should remain there for a good part of the day. The SPAL indicates that it is “open” to receiving relevant testimony from the public, but that no appeal to the population has been launched, the operation being more focused on the search for additional clues.

No suspect has yet been arrested in this case, which was also the first murder of 2022 to occur in the province. The 54-year-old woman was a mother of three children. His murder has also caused a lot of “uncertainties” and insecurity among several women in Longueuil, particularly those living alone, said police sources.
