Murder of Karine Esquivillon. The white march in Maché brings together 300 people in tribute to the victim

The white march, in tribute to Karine Esquivillon, brought together between 200 and 300 people in the town of Maché, in Vendée. Her spouse Michel confessed to his crime on June 15, citing an “accident”.

After the spouse’s confession, the time for the tribute. This Saturday, July 1, 2023, between 200 and 300 people gathered for a white march paying tribute to Karine Esquivillon.

Relatives, people from the village and some who came in support therefore left La Malnoue, the hamlet where the family lived, to go to the church in Maché, a priest was present to lead the crowd.

Given the media coverage of the case, the town hall organized this white march: “We didn’t want to leave this heavy task to the family. It’s important for this traumatized and bruised family to see all this support”, said Frédéric Rager, Mayor of Maché.

As a reminder, Karine Pialle Esquivillon had been missing since March. Her husband, Michel Pialle, had never ceased to proclaim his innocence by favoring the track of the voluntary departure of his spouse.

It was after the discovery of Karine Esquivillon’s phone by the mayor of Maché, on April 9, 2023, that an investigation was launched by the Sables-d’Olonne prosecutor’s office.

On June 14, the ex-spouse and main suspect was arrested and placed in police custody in La Roche-sur-Yon. He confessed to having killed Karine Esquivillon the next day, and the police found the victim’s body on June 16.

Michel Pialle is in pre-trial detention and has been indicted for “spouse murder”he now defends himself by talking about an accident.

Karine Esquivillon’s children have launched an online kitty, to “to take care of the two youngest and ensure them a future”and to organize the funeral of their mother.
