Murder of Justine Vayrac: Fights, revenge, electronic bracelet … the troubled past of Lucas L.

Placed in pre-trial detention after confessing to the murder of Justine Vayrac, Lucas L. was not a teenager like the others in the small town of Eyzat. According to information from Parisianthe 21-year-old farmer even had serious “behavior problems“. A resident who knew him thus confided to the journalists: “He got fired several times for getting into fights, insulting teachers and breaking equipment. When I saw the cars with the sirens rush towards Eyzat on Tuesday, I immediately made the connection with the disappearance. I said to myself: it can only be him.

Seen as an aggressive young man and follower of pyromania, Lucas had been prosecuted in August 2020 for having caused an arson in the hangar of one of his former bosses with whom he had argued. “Lucas L. reportedly acted out of revenge after taking ‘reframe’ very badly on his part“, say the journalists. He had not yet been tried for this offense but had spent several months in detention. He had also been forced to wear an electronic bracelet, which he had since removed.

Everyone talks…

In the town, many residents also suspected him of having caused a fire of criminal origin in a barn which was located right next to his family in 2017. This tragedy has never been elucidated but for many many residents, Lucas L. was responsible for this disaster. Many fire starts from “very low intensity” have also been observed in Beynat in recent years. “Everyone talks but nobody knows anything“, adds another neighbor, distraught following the murder of Justine Vayrac.

As a reminder, Lucas L. confessed at the end of his police custody “killing the victim when they were both at his home and had just had consensual sex“, added the magistrate. “A judicial investigation was opened on the counts of rape, kidnapping without voluntary release before the 7th day and murder preceded, accompanied or followed by another crime. The penalty is life imprisonment.“said Limoges prosecutor Baptiste Porcher during a press briefing.

Lucas L. remains presumed innocent of the charges against him until the case is finally closed.
