Murder of Jenique Dalcourt | A man arrested ten years after the events

Nearly ten years after the events, the police finally arrested a man in connection with the murder of Jenique Dalcourt, a crime that shocked Quebec.

The young woman, a resident of Longueuil, was beaten to death with a metal bar on October 21, 2014 in a poorly lit area of ​​the Vieux-Longueuil cycle path while she was walking home after work.

According to what Noovo Info and TVA Nouvelles reported Tuesday evening, new evidence was recently submitted to prosecutors and an arrest warrant was granted against a man whom the police had in their sights shortly after the incident.

The suspect, then aged 26, was in fact arrested and questioned a few days after the murder of Jenique Dalcourt. It was he who called 911, claiming to have come across the victim by chance. But he was later released due to lack of evidence.

Now arrested, he will be subject to further questioning and will face murder charges in the coming hours. The Longueuil Agglomeration Police Service (SPAL) is scheduled to hold a press conference Wednesday morning to provide more details.
