Murder of Jannai Dopwell | Teen accused guilty of second-degree murder

The teenager accused of stabbing youngster Jannai Dopwell to death outside of school two years ago was found guilty Tuesday of second-degree murder.

On October 18, 2021, Jannai Dopwell, 16, was stabbed to death after leaving classes near Coronation school, in the Côte-des-Neiges neighborhood in Montreal.

The young man accused in this case did indeed kill the teenager, the jury decided Tuesday morning. The murderer, whose identity cannot be revealed since he was a minor at the time of the events, attended the same school as the victim.

He was roaming around the day of the tragedy despite his expulsion from school a few weeks earlier, explained prosecutor Me Simon Robin a few weeks ago.

More details to come.
