Murder of Daphnée Jolivet in Quebec | Teenager arrested

(Quebec) Quebec police reported Tuesday the arrest of a teenager for the murder of Daphnée Jolivet, a 19-year-old young woman who was found dead on October 26 in a residence on rue Geneviève-Lamarre, in the Limoilou district.

The 16-year-old suspect, who was arrested Monday, is suspected of first-degree murder and armed sexual assault of Daphnée Jolivet, as well as attempted murder and aggravated assault of another 16 year old teenager.

The Quebec City Police Department (SPVQ) reports that the young suspect is the same individual who was arrested shortly after the murder for impaired driving and vehicle theft.

He was questioned by investigators from the Serious Crimes Unit of the SPVQ and he is expected to appear Tuesday afternoon in the Youth Division of the Court of Quebec.

The SPVQ investigation and the evidence collected demonstrate that the suspect acted alone and that there is no link between him and the two victims.

This is the sixth investigation carried out by the SPVQ in connection with homicides occurring in the territory of Quebec City since the current year.
