Murder of Arsene Mompoint | Searches underway in Montreal

Several searches are taking place in Montreal in connection with the murder of Arsène Mompoint, a prominent gang leader shot and killed two years ago in Kanesatake.


The police officers of the Division of investigations into murders and disappearances linked to organized crime (DEMDCO) of the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) are today carrying out several searches in Montreal in connection with the assassination of the gang leader.

“These are four searches that took place in residences in Montreal. The operation resulting from an investigation initiated in July 2021 following the murder of Arsène Mompoint mobilized more than thirty police officers, ”said the police force in a press release.

Mompoint had been shot 1er July 2021. The police had been called for gunshots on rue Saint-Michel in Kanesatake. The suspect, according to authorities, is a black man wearing a blindfold that partially conceals his face. He reportedly got out of his gray sport utility vehicle to fire on the victim before leaving on Saint-Michel Street towards the village of Oka. The investigation surrounding the murder of the victim, a well-known figure in Montreal organized crime, is continuing.
