Murder in Montreal North in July 2023 | Suspect arrested

A man was arrested Wednesday in connection with a murder that occurred in the Montreal-North borough last summer, the Montreal Police Service (SPVM) announced Thursday.


On July 25, 2023, a 45-year-old man went missing after he did not return home as expected. The next day, SPVM police officers traced the man’s vehicle to the corner of Avenue de Paris and Rue Fleury.

Inside, they discovered the victim’s body covered with a blanket. The body had a gunshot wound. It was then the 16the homicide to occur in the territory of the SPVM in 2023.

The suspect, a 60-year-old man living in the Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension district, was finally arrested after several months of investigation. He will appear Thursday at the Montreal courthouse to be formally charged with first degree murder.
