Jimmy Lemire-Charlebois was charged on Tuesday with manslaughter in connection with the murder of Danny Durand Laporte last week.

On August 11, shortly after 9:30 p.m., Danny Durand Laporte was found unresponsive in Saint-Liboire, Montérégie. Arrived on the spot, the police officers of the Sûreté du Québec found the death of the 31-year-old man.
The police force’s investigation showed that Mr. Durand Laporte was the victim of a murder by firearm. Jimmy Lemire-Charlebois, who has been identified as the suspect, appeared at the Saint-Hyacinthe courthouse on Tuesday.
The 33-year-old is charged with “using a firearm thereby committing manslaughter”, “intentionally discharging a restricted firearm without regard to the life or safety of others” and of having “carried or had in his possession a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public peace”.
He is also accused of possessing a restricted firearm without being the holder of an authorization or license, as well as the registration certificate.
