“She came out, she walked on the edge carport and she collapsed. I knew she was dead when she fell,” says Jacqueline Brunet, a neighbor of the scene of the tragedy, still in shock.

Thursday evening, the residence on Paradis Street where the murder occurred was still surrounded by orange ribbons placed there by the police. In front of the residence, a pile of jumbled objects, where the paramedics tried to resuscitate the victim.

According to information confirmed by the Laval Police Department, the 61-year-old woman was stabbed around 5:30 p.m. at her residence on Rue Paradis. A 30-year-old man was arrested in the same building.

Intrafamily drama

It would be an aunt and her nephew, reported two neighbors and a close friend of the woman met on site on Thursday.

André Morin, a friend and former spouse of the victim, says that she had texted him no later than 4:30 p.m. to warn him that she would not be able to show up for a personal meeting and that the Police were at his home due to his nephew’s erratic behavior.

Information confirmed by the victim’s neighbor, Jacqueline Brunet. “There were two police cars and an ambulance with paramedics. But they left without doing anything, their hands were tied,” she says.

Then an hour later, around 5:30 p.m., a terrible noise, she adds. “I’ve never seen so many police cars, it’s like they’re coming from all sides. »

While officers attempted to resuscitate the victim, other officers attempted to control the suspect nearby. “He shouted: kill me, kill me,” remembers with difficulty Aline Breault, who lives with her mother and who therefore also witnessed the scene.

At the end of Thursday evening, the Laval City Police Department still had not confirmed that its officers had intervened at the victim’s home shortly before the tragedy.
