Murder in Laval on November 29 | Suspect charged with manslaughter

(Laval) Police announced Monday the arrest of a 44-year-old man, Sylvain Duchesne, for the murder committed during a break-in that occurred in a building on Sainte-Rose Boulevard, in Laval, in the end of last month.

The Laval Police Service (SPL) reports that the suspect appeared at the Laval courthouse last Friday on charges of manslaughter. He will remain detained and return to court on January 11.

The SPL recalls that on November 29, around 7:25 a.m., employees of a tree pruning company found a lifeless man on the ground. SPL investigative elements quickly determined that the death had been caused by a criminal act.

Investigators from the Crimes against the Person squad were able to establish that the suspect broke into the business to steal metals and that the victim caught him in the act. An altercation then allegedly occurred between the two individuals and ended with the death of the victim.

Laval police report that several squads were called upon to assist investigators and arrest the suspect, namely the Équinoxe squad, the Tactical Intervention Group, forensic identification technicians and gendarmerie patrol officers. .
