Dardy Lavaud and Robby Valère were arrested on August 12 after another episode of violence in eastern Montreal. Dozens of bullets had been fired that night. They were previously facing firearms charges.
However, on Thursday, new charges were filed against the two men, not the least of which were three counts of attempted murder with a firearm and three counts of discharging a firearm at the victims. A total of 11 charges now hang over the two men.
Dardy Lavaud, 18, is a member of a clique linked to Zone 43, a street gang in northeast Montreal, according to our sources. The affiliation of Robby Valère, 23, is not known. The latter was subject to a ban on owning a firearm.
Their first attempted murder could be a mistaken person. A 20-year-old woman who had just parked near rue Pierre-Bonne was indeed riddled with bullets, but miraculously survived. This event went under the media radar on August 10, since it occurred the same evening as the murder of Jayson Colin, who was shot dead in the courtyard of a Montreal North high school.
Then, the next day, August 11, a 25-year-old woman was shot in her vehicle on Maurice-Duplessis Boulevard in Rivière-des-Prairies. His brother, who was on board, was not injured. More than thirty casings were found on the scene, according to our information.
Robby Valère and Dardy Lavaud are also charged with another attempted murder targeting a man. An event which was however not mediated by the police.
